Ho, Ho, Hoooo???

free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com

I have decided that the holidays are meant for kids and kids only. It has become increasingly harder to find good gifts for adults that will get appreciated (in other words, not get stuck in the back of a closet or re-gifted). I've gotten to a point myself that, when asked what I wanted for Christmas, I usually just say "Really, you don't have to, I have everything I need." They insist so then my next response is "fine, a gift card to Barnes & Noble." I haven't even decorated my apartment in about... hmmmm... since I moved out of my mom's place 8 years ago. I don't think I'm missing much.

That said... when I have kids I plan on keeping them in the dark for as long as possible. I will decorate my house, National Lampoon style if I have to, and there will be a Santa Claus, so what if he mysteriously looks like dad. There is still an innocence in believing in Santa Claus that I want my kids to maintain until they are about 15 years old. OK, OK, OK... 8 years old at least. I realized Santa was my mother when she took me shopping with her at Toys R Us. She had my sister take me to one part of the store while she went shopping in another (the Barbie & She-Ra section). We eventually bumped into each other, that's when I saw the cart of toys... all for me (i was spoiled). I even convinced my mom to buy me another She-ra doll (i forgot who it was now).

I'm not sure if I will have another post before the end of the year or before I go on vacation, so Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

Aston Martin - My Other Love

I'm not much of a car freak, but I love my Aston Martins. I have to credit the James Bond movies for my fetish. I will own an Aston Martin one of these days, probably sooner than later. These cars are beautiful. Take the DB6, it's classic:

If you don't like it... there's something wrong with you. Today a friend of mine bought the DBS. I'm highly upset with him, he knew that the Aston Martin was my car and I'm the one that is supposed to have the car in our group. This is the car he bought:

I'm jealous! Very jealous! It's OK. I'm buying the DB9 Volante in arctic blue with bitter chocolate trimming. It has been decided and I WILL get it:

For some of you, this may seem a bit of a stretch, it's not a cheap car, but I've always been one to get what I wanted when I wanted it.

I can't wait!

Bills & Snow

I like bills; I hate snow...

I'm backwards, I know, but that's how I am, I think you can deal with it. I like bills because, for me, that means I have a roof over my head, gas to cook with, electricity to read, and money to spend. I think that's pretty sensible, don't you?

Snow on the other hand??? Sure it's pretty, but it's a mess. You can't see in front of you when it's snowing. The snow drifts that form, undoubtedly cause me to fall and in the city... we usually end up with gray/yellow snow. Just nasty. It's snowing now... I wish I could go home.

oh and i had another dream about Rob Pattinson... seriously... this is getting weird now....

Hooters

I just got back from Hooters. My friend, J, took me out as a holiday treat. HA! The treat was really for him. I have to say, the girls are not impressive. They all have big tits, sure, but that's where it stops. No asses, skinny and some are square. Hmmm whatever. The wings are good though! So I guess I'll go back for those. If you do decide to go though, be sure you don't have Kristina, as she said herself, she's "a ditz."

Twilight Zone

I finally got around to watching Twilight last night. I went with a good friend of mine who had seen the movie already. She warned me that it was pretty bad. I'm glad I had the warning, I was able to not completely hate it. What was wrong with the movie? In a nutshell... bad directing. HORRIBLE directing. I was disappointed to say the least. The only good thing was that I got to see my new crush in all his vampire-ness. Yummy. My friend and I spent the following ride home dissecting the film and where it went wrong. Here's what we came up with:
  1. Bad Directing. Sorry Hardwicke, but you just didn't cut it this time. I'm glad you're not directing the next one. seriously. You let the actors drown in their bad lines. I'll forgive the bad lines, the book is cheesy (in a good way), but as a director, you're supposed to still find the emotion behind those lines. The actors wanted to give that to us, you stifled them. Shame on you.
  2. Casting. For the most part, I didn't have an issue with the main characters. Rob Pattinson (yummy) as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella were fine. Emmett was dead on (no pun intended). Alice was good, I just wish she had more of a role as in the book. Carlisle and Esme, fine. Rosalie... not the best choice, this role should be re-cast but if not, whatever. However, Jasper. What the hell were these people thinking??? This has to be a definite recast. There is no way that Jackson Rathbone can portray Jasper in the later books, he won't make sense (Jackson has a gay face - no offense to the gay community, Jasper is supposed to be a soldier/general, strong leader type... not gay).
  3. Misplaced/Added scenes. If you read the book, you'll understand this one. Certain parts of the movie were not in the correct scene as in the book. For example when Bella tells Edward that she knows he's a vampire... that happened in a car after she was attacked, not in the forest. Also, the bad guys never killed anyone, they just showed up, makes it that much more suspenseful.
  4. Incorrect/Added/Missing Lines. The book was cheesy as it was, no need to add or change lines to make it even cheesier. Case in point: The whole vampire theory. Not once in the movie did Bella say she had a theory about what Edward was. Edward all of a sudden comes out with "I want to hear your theory"; in the book, she's the one that brings it up. When she guesses what he is, he never says "Say it. Say the word." corny. It was more subtle than that.
I could go on, but those are the biggest issues. Chris Weitz, take note! And yes, I will still buy the movie when it comes out on DVD. I want to have Rob Pattinson forever with me! HAHAHAHA

Celebrity Crushes

I'm in love... ok, not really, but I might as well be. It happens so fast. You catch a glimpse of the other person, you see them in all their glory, always looking wondrous. Then you wonder to yourself: will I ever have a chance? If, in my case, their names are Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson, or The Rock, probably not. But there's no harm in thinking about them.

My celebrity crush with Johnny Depp began when i was about 8 years old, when 21 Jump Street was all the craze. I was absolutely in love with him and that hasn't changed one bit. I would go to the ends of the earth for him! That just means I will watch every single one of his movies and lucky for me, they've all been pretty good, yes including Cry-Baby! I even joined his fan club, sent him a letter and everything. He wrote back too! Well, not really, but i did get a signed letter from him, even if it were just the generic "thanks for joining my club." Oh well c'est la vie. But look at this face... who can say no to that... ever????

I've added a new crush now. Robert Pattinson. I generally don't go for the skinny Brit type (if you know me, you know I go more for the slightly taller than me, Puerto Ricans), but Robert, I can do anytime. Why? I've been asking myself the same question. This little obsession of mine began first with the Twilight Saga. I read the books, couldn't put them down. I fell in love with Edward Cullen (the main male character). Actually, let's start from the beginning. I always thought Robert was cute when he played Cedric in Harry Potter, the Goblet of Fire, it was a shame he had to die, but it had to be done. I hadn't really seen him in anything else (bit parts here and there, but nothing that really featured him prominently). I saw that he had been cast as Edward Cullen, but at that time I didn't really care. Sure he was cute, and the pictures were pretty amazing of him, but still... no biggie. I hadn't read the books, so it didn't really mean much to me. Which brings me back to the book. Well, as I said I fell in love with Edward and really any woman in their right mind would as well. After that, I started to see Robert in a new light. Love interest... hmmmm... Then I started really looking at his pictures and I realized that he was hotter than I originally thought. Then I saw his interviews, he's good-looking, smart, funny, down to earth (albeit, a little dirty) and I realized I had to put him on my to do list. HAHAHA Let's take a look:

Last but not least... Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock... Why? I met him, personally. Yes, he's hot, but he's the coolest guy ever. Talk about down-to-earth? Dude was making fun of me and even allowing me to talk shit back to him. Spent two hours with him too and nothing happened!!! Even my husband wonders about that one. He keeps asking me why i didn't try to make a move. Well, I was young, only 20, I didn't even know who the guy was. My step-brother had to tell me. I found out I was meeting him and "taking" care of him for my job. All that entailed was staying close and making sure he had what he needed (water, food) and that the kids waiting to get his autograph didn't get unruly. I would put a picture of us up, but I really don't want my pretty little face up, so you'll have to deal. But here's a picture of just him...

So there you have it. My celebrity crushes. Just for the record, I also have permission from my wonderful husband to pounce, hug, kiss, squeeze, and do other naughty things *wink* to these guys should I ever see them. I have the best husband! Now if only I can find them sooner than later!

Intro

*SIGH* So, what's the deal with this blog? I have been debating starting a blog for a long time. I always felt it was a bit egotistical to have my thoughts posted for the whole world to read and, more importantly, expect the world to read. I mean, really why else would I post on the world wide web? But I caved, I want to feel important. I want my thoughts to be read. Why not? I'm bored anyway and all of you can be bored with me. Hopefully, you'll find my random thoughts funny, witty, sad, insightful, etc etc etc. It's the least I can hope for from all of you.

Oh... a little about me... I'm a 30 yr. old female, living in New York, married, no kids (yet), of Cuban descent (so if you ever wonder why some spanish words make their way into the blogs, you'll know why) and somewhat educated... depending on your definition of educated. Anything else you want to know about me??? Well, you'll get to know me as I post my entries.

Without further ado... Hello......
